Roman Sereda

January 19 is the day of remembrance of the death of the defender of Ukraine Roman Sereda (09.07.1981 - 19.01.2023). Roman Sereda was born on July 9, 1981 in the village of Berezovychi, Volyn region, and later dedicated his life to protecting the sovereignty of Ukraine. From 2015 to 2021, he served in the State Border Service of Ukraine, taking an active part in the ATO and the Joint Forces Operation in the Donetsk region, for which he was awarded many combat awards, including the medal "For Victory and Fidelity" and the Cossack Cross of the 3rd degree. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, on February 26, 2022, Roman volunteered to join the Territorial Defense Forces, where he took the position of commander of the military intelligence department of military unit A7037. Having shown exceptional courage, he gave his life for his homeland on January 19, 2023, after which he was posthumously awarded the military rank of "master sergeant" and awarded the medal "For Assistance to Military Intelligence". For his significant personal contribution to the defense of Ukraine and the region, the soldier was honored with the "Badge of Honor" from the Novogrodov City Military Administration (posthumously).
