December 4 is the day of remembrance of the death of the defender of Ukraine, Serhiy Akimov (05/12/1984 — 12/04/2022). Serhiy Akimov was born and raised in the city of Novogrodivka, where since 2002 he has worked conscientiously at the Kotlyarevskaya mine, earning the respect of his colleagues and remaining a loving husband and father of two sons. On April 26, 2022, as part of the general mobilization, he was drafted into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Pokrovsky RTCC and SP and sent to serve in military unit A1965. Faithful to his military oath, the soldier-miner with weapons in his hands courageously defended his native land, taking part in combat operations to repel and deter the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. Having shown exceptional resilience and heroism while performing tasks to ensure the security and defense of the state, the defender remained loyal to the Ukrainian people until his last breath. On December 4, 2022, in the area of the settlement of Vodyane, Donetsk region, Serhiy Volodymyrovych Akimov heroically died in the battle for the freedom of Ukraine.
