October 29 is the day of remembrance of the death of the defender of Ukraine Serhiy Martsenyuk (08/23/1977 — 10/29/2023). Serhiy Martsenyuk was born in the city of Novogrodivka and before the beginning of his military career, he conscientiously worked as a miner at the Kotlyarevska mine. The soldier began to defend his native land in 2015, and from the first day of the full-scale invasion, February 24, 2022, he continued his service as a senior rifleman-operator in the rifle battalion. For his exceptional courage, steadfastness and combat merits, Junior Sergeant Martsenyuk was awarded numerous awards, including the medal "Defender of the Fatherland", the distinction "Avdiyivka. Industrial Zone. Stood to Death" and the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree. Faithful to his military oath and the Ukrainian people, the defender selflessly defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine until his last breath. On October 29, 2023, while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Orlyanka, Kupyansky district, Kharkiv region, Serhiy heroically died.
