April 22 is the day of remembrance of the death of the defender of Ukraine Serhiy Yefimenko (08.06.1979 — 22.04.2024). Serhiy Yefimenko in the village of Pustynk in the Donetsk region, lived in Novogrodivka for a long time and before the full-scale invasion worked as a miner at the mine "1-3 Novogrodivska". In April 2022, he volunteered to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he rose to sergeant of the airborne assault company of the 501st separate battalion of marines and performed the duties of a tactical training instructor. For the defense of the state in the Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson directions, the soldier was awarded the badges of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "For exemplary military service" of the 2nd degree, the "Golden Cross" and the medal "Veteran of War". Faithful to the military oath and the Ukrainian people, the defender completed a course of sergeant training in Great Britain and devotedly defended the sovereignty of Ukraine in the hottest points of the front. On April 22, 2024, while performing a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Zmiivka, Kherson region, Sergeant Serhiy Yefimenko heroically died.
