July 12 is the day of the death of the defender of the Novogrodov community, police captain Dmytro Petrenko (1985 – 07/12/2024). The officer devoted almost twenty years of service to the people in the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police of Ukraine, having also gone through the path of a participant in an anti-terrorist operation. During the full-scale war, he worked as a community police officer of the Pokrovsky District Police Department, where, under enemy fire, he evacuated residents, cleared rubble, and delivered humanitarian aid. The life of the 38-year-old law enforcement officer was prematurely cut short while performing his duty when his car became the target of an enemy drone. For his personal courage and selfless actions, police captain Dmytro Petrenko was posthumously awarded the state award - the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree.
