village of Orlivka
History
The history of the village is connected with the agricultural development of the region's lands in the 19th–20th centuries. The village was formed as a traditional agrarian settlement, where the main areas of activity were the cultivation of grain and industrial crops and livestock. During Soviet times and during the period of independence of Ukraine, Orlivka retained its agricultural profile, and some of its residents also worked at coal mining and industrial enterprises in the Novogrodov and Pokrovsky regions.
As a result of the administrative-territorial reform and decentralization, the village of Orlivka became part of the Novogrodov urban territorial community.
Population
According to the 2001 All-Ukrainian Census: The village population was 292 people. On the eve of the full-scale invasion (2021–2022): Approximately 180–220 people permanently lived in the village. In 2024, due to the escalation of hostilities in the Pokrovske direction, the threat of encirclement and active shelling, a mandatory evacuation was carried out. The civilian population completely left the settlement.
