August 20 is the day of remembrance of the death of the defender of Ukraine Maksym Kucheruk (09/23/2001 – 08/20/2024). Maksym Kucheruk was born in the city of Novogrodivka, where he grew up and graduated from school No. 10 named after Taras Shevchenko. At the Selydiv Lyceum he received the profession of a cook. He took his first professional steps in the cafe "Murashnyk". In 2020, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at that time he was only 19. He was a master drone operator. His skillful hands and sharp gaze were indispensable during the performance of combat missions. On August 20, 2024, while performing a combat mission in the Donetsk region, the young man died. During his service, Maxim received the title of participant in hostilities and was awarded the Golden Cross, having gone through fierce battles in the Krasnohorivsk, Avdiivsk, and Bakhmut directions.
