Maria Makoviy

Maria Makoviy (07/14/2015 – 11/29/2023) Maria Makoviy is an eight-year-old resident of the city of Novogrodovka, whose life was tragically and mercilessly cut short by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. Together with her parents, she became a victim of a direct hit by an enemy missile on her home. The tragedy destroyed the entire family, leaving a deep and irreparable wound in the hearts of the community. Maria was born on July 14, 2015. She was a third-grade student — a diligent, talented and inquisitive child. The girl sincerely loved reading and was a frequent guest of the local library, where, participating in events, she enthusiastically shared with the employees her impressions of new books and her own achievements. In addition to school, Maria attended an art school in Novogrodivka, where she learned to play the guitar. She grew up cheerful, bright, and optimistic, loved spending time outdoors, and valued every minute spent with her parents. On the night of November 29-30, 2023, the Russian army fired an S-300 missile at a three-story apartment building in the center of Novogrodivka, where the Makova family was at that moment. The search and rescue operation lasted several days. The girl's body was found under the rubble only on December 4, 2023. The identification of her parents required a lengthy DNA examination. Maria Makova will forever remain in the memory of the Novogrodivka community as the embodiment of purity, sincerity, and unfulfilled childhood dreams. Eternal and bright memory to the little Ukrainian girl.
