village of Ptyche

Reference information
The village of Ptyche (historical name - Kurtivka) is one of the settlements of the Novogrodivska urban territorial community of Pokrovsky district of Donetsk region. The settlement arose in the 19th century under the name Kurtivka. Later it received the modern name Ptyche.

History

For a long time, the village developed as a classic agricultural settlement of the region, where local residents were engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, and also worked at the enterprises of neighboring industrial centers (Novogrodivka, Selove, Pokrovsk).

As a result of the administrative-territorial reform, the village became part of the Novogrodivka urban territorial community of Pokrovsky district.

Features

Before the full-scale invasion and active hostilities, the village's socio-cultural infrastructure provided for the basic needs of its residents. The center of cultural life was the village club/house of culture and the library, where local holidays, events dedicated to memorable dates and events for children were held.

Primary medical care was provided through a medical assistant and obstetrician's station (FAP) or a general family medicine outpatient clinic as part of the Novogrodov community's medical network.

Within the community, the village of Ptyche was subordinate to the Novogrodov City Military Administration (MVA), which provided communal management, social protection and coordination of humanitarian assistance to residents.

Modernity

In the summer of 2024, during intense fighting in the Pokrovsky direction, the village of Ptyche found itself on the line of direct contact and was temporarily occupied by Russian troops in August 2024.

As a result of active fighting and artillery shelling, the village's infrastructure suffered significant damage, and most of the civilian population was forced to evacuate to safer regions of Ukraine.

Population

According to the 2001 census: The population of the village of Ptyche was 236 people. By 2022–2024, the population was gradually decreasing naturally and through migration to the cities.

Due to active hostilities in 2024 and temporary occupation, the civilian population of the village was almost completely evacuated.
